My Home Is a Work in Progress, Just Like Me

My clients often ask me about my own home. I always respond the same way: “It’s a work in progress, just like me.” 😉

A home reflects the personal journey of the people living within it. A life lived in seasons and chapters. My home is no different. It tells the story of my life through many twists and turns, valley lows and mountain-peak highs. Through it all, the various homes I created for myself and my children have supported us and continue to hold space for it all.

The result is an eclectic mix of art, furnishings, and sentimental objects that each carry meaning and memory. Pieces collected during life-changing trips to Italy, Israel, Africa, and other destinations. Photography of my children. Artwork gathered over the years that still speaks to and soothes my spirit. Furniture from my first “on my own” home after my divorce, when I stepped onto my first reinvention path in my late forties.

I often tell my clients that a home is a living, breathing organism. It shifts as we shift, transforms as we transform, and transitions alongside us during life’s many changes. The beauty of this notion transcends words.

Our homes tell the story of our lives. They hold space for the full human experience – joy and love, yet also grief, sadness, uncertainty, and fear as we navigate the world around us. Home becomes a safe haven where we reconnect with ourselves, restore, and cultivate resilience, courage, hope, and faith for the next day and beyond.

My home is no different.

It is simple and small, yet it offers me exactly what I need in this season of my life. It reflects a life lived with passion, love, courage, and resilience. Every day when I return home and feel embraced by its warm and luscious olive green and chocolate walls, it feels like the most special place on earth. 🥰

And that, to me, is the true power of intentional design.

It’s neither perfection nor performance. And it’s most definitely not creating a home that looks like everyone else’s, yet creating a space that feels deeply personal, grounding, and alive. A space that supports your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, reflects your story, and gently holds you through every season of life.

At GOGO Design Group, we believe your home should nourish your soul as much as it shelters your body.

Let’s create that connection within your home, together.
